SOP for Cleaning of Drained of Out area premises (HR Department) is a visual instruction guide designed to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and compliance in common workplace areas. The purpose of this SOP is to ensure that drained-out or wastewater-affected areas, surrounding premises, walkways, utility zones, and housekeeping areas are cleaned properly and regularly.
The SOP should begin with the objective and scope. It should clearly explain that cleaning activities are required to prevent foul odor, pest attraction, microbial growth, water stagnation, employee discomfort, and unsafe working conditions. The scope may include HR premises, outdoor surroundings, drainage points, wash areas, utility corners, waste collection zones, and nearby access paths.
The pictorial SOP should show the required cleaning materials and personal protective equipment. These may include gloves, mask, apron, safety shoes, mop, brush, broom, wiper, disinfectant solution, detergent, waste collection bags, dustbin, and warning signage. Pictures should demonstrate that workers must wear PPE before starting the activity.
The cleaning procedure should be shown step by step. First, place a “Cleaning in Progress” board near the area. Remove dry waste, leaves, paper, plastic, and other visible unwanted materials. Next, clear any blockage from the drain outlet using approved tools. Wash the area with water and detergent, scrub the floor or surface properly, and remove accumulated dirt, sludge, or stains. After cleaning, apply approved disinfectant as per defined concentration and contact time. Finally, rinse if required and allow the area to dry.
The SOP should also include waste handling instructions. Collected waste must be transferred into designated bins or bags and disposed of according to site housekeeping procedures. Drain covers should be checked and replaced properly after cleaning.
Inspection and documentation are important parts of the SOP. The responsible housekeeping person or HR representative should verify cleanliness, absence of odor, no water stagnation, and proper waste removal. Cleaning activity must be recorded in a checklist or logbook with date, time, signature, and remarks.
A well-prepared pictorial SOP helps workers follow uniform cleaning practices, improves workplace hygiene, reduces pest and safety risks, and supports a clean, healthy, and compliant HR premises environment.
