1. Introduction for SOP for Cleaning of Feet Cleaning Pad and Sticky Mat:
The SOP for Cleaning of Feet Cleaning Pads and Sticky Mat explains how these items should be cleaned and maintained in a pharmaceutical production area. Their main purpose is to stop dirt, dust, lint, and other unwanted particles from entering clean and controlled rooms through workers’ footwear. The Production Officer or Executive performs the activity, while the Head of Production remains accountable for proper implementation. For a reusable feet-cleaning pad, the pad and its stainless-steel tray are transferred from the aseptic area to the washing area. Before cleaning, the operator checks that the pad is in good physical condition and properly covered with lint-free cloth. Any damaged pad or cover must be replaced. The pad is removed from the tray, dipped in purified water, squeezed, and this cleaning cycle is repeated three times. It is then dried using compressed air passed through a 0.2-micron filter. The stainless-steel tray is cleaned separately with Water for Injection, followed by purified water, and dried with filtered compressed air. For a sticky mat, cleaning agent is sprayed over the complete surface and allowed to remain for five minutes. The surface is then agitated and wiped across its full width and length. The used cleaning solution and collected dirt are moved away from the controlled area and disposed of properly. Both cleaning activities must be carried out daily. After completion, the operator records the date, cleaning start and finish times, and relevant signatures in the prescribed cleaning record. The work is checked and verified by authorized personnel. Regular cleaning, inspection, documentation, and timely replacement help control contamination, support cleanroom hygiene, and demonstrate that the facility follows an organized cleaning system. In simple terms, this SOP ensures that footwear-cleaning barriers remain effective and do not themselves become a source of contamination during routine pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
