Manufacturing Process of Aceclofenac 100 mg tablet: It is a commonly prescribed non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, inflammation, and swelling in various musculoskeletal and joint disorders. It belongs to the phenylacetic acid group of NSAIDs and is chemically related to diclofenac. Aceclofenac is widely used in clinical and pharmaceutical practice because of its effective analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties along with comparatively better gastric tolerability than some other NSAIDs.
The primary mechanism of action of aceclofenac involves inhibition of cyclo-oxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are chemical mediators that cause pain, inflammation, redness, and fever in the body. By reducing prostaglandin production, aceclofenac helps decrease pain and inflammation and improves joint mobility and comfort.
Aceclofenac 100 mg tablets are mainly indicated in conditions such as Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Ankylosing Spondylitis. It is also used for dental pain, lower back pain, post-operative pain, muscle pain, and sports injuries. The usual adult dosage is 100 mg twice daily, preferably after meals to reduce gastric irritation. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water.
Common side effects associated with aceclofenac include nausea, indigestion, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, and gastric discomfort. Prolonged use may increase the risk of gastric ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver dysfunction, or kidney impairment. Therefore, caution is advised in elderly patients and in individuals with a history of peptic ulcer, liver disease, kidney disease, or cardiovascular disorders.
Aceclofenac may interact with anticoagulants, corticosteroids, antihypertensive drugs, methotrexate, and other NSAIDs. Hence, medical supervision is essential during therapy. The tablets should be stored in a cool and dry place below 25°C, protected from moisture and direct sunlight.
Due to its strong anti-inflammatory activity and good patient compliance, aceclofenac remains an important drug in modern pharmaceutical therapy for pain and inflammatory conditions.
